Mommy & Baby in an Accident :(

Hi Everyone

The baby and I got into a scary accident Thursday, but we are both fine. We were on the freeway when someone decided to start merging into our left lane without looking and I honked & swerved to avoid them. When I had looked back the person had continued to come into our lane. Unfortunately I lost control during the second swerve and before I knew what was happening, the car was spinning and hit the center divider. The air bags deployed and the car ended up almost perpendicular to the divider. Very scary.

I got out of the car as soon as I could because the air bag dust and debris was everywhere. The driver door was blocked a little bit, but I managed to push the debris out of the way.

Luckily a Metro Safety guy was close by and drove right up to me and helped me call the CHP and the paramedics. Everyone was very nice to me. Got my poor little car to the right side of the freeway and then went to the body shop that I knew was close by. The car is pretty much totaled because there is a lot of front end damage.

Went to the hospital with Ray afterwards and they monitored the baby for a couple of hours to make sure I wasn't having contractions or anything. He was fine and kicking quite a bit when we were there. The doctor said that he was very active :)

I'd like to take a moment and just remember my lovely little blue Corolla S, which protected me and served me so well to the end. I will miss it. Ray & I didn't take any pictures of it at the body shop because I don't think it would have wanted to be remembered that way.

It's funny how we humanize inanimate objects, especially cars. We give faces to them and we give them personalities.

Anyway, glad you're fine.

I am glad you're okay Val. -- You are right, I'm sure your Corolla would rather us remember the happier times. She sacrificed herself for you and baby. May Corolla rest in peace. Now Subaru Legacy is part of the family and hopefully will serve you well for years to come.
